BRAIN-BOOSTING SNACKS FOR KIDS

Kids need lots of energy to fuel their demanding everyday needs. The right food for them should not only support their physical needs, but also help them develop their brain power.

Studies have shown the correlation between cognitive function and a good diet.

There are certain foods that are well known to improve attention and memory while helping have sharper minds.

The ultimate challenge though, is to serve those foods in an enticing way to make our little ones not only eat them, but also crave them.

Incorporating them into easy going snacks that’ll combine both nutrition value and taste, may just do the trick.

  1. Avocado egg salad sandwiches

Eggs are rich in protein, choline, omega-3 fatty acids and lutein, all essentials with brainpower value. They are the absolute superfood that are cheap, all-year available and yummy.

An Egg salad sandwich is a tasty and fun way for kids to eat their eggs.

An even healthier alternative, that would substitute mayonnaise for avocado, could be the ideal savoury snack on the go. Avocado is also a superfood with numerous health benefits.

This avocado egg salad is our favorite nutrition packed snack.

  1. Blueberry oatmeal cookies

Blueberries are another deliciously nutritious supermini in size!

Vitamin C rich, blueberries are a free-radical-fighting powerhouse. Studies have also shown that the consumption of blueberries help boost short-term memory. Anything that could enhance memory, is a must for our little ones.

These blueberry oatmeal cookies are our favorite ones, since they combine blueberry awesomeness and wholesome oats in a go-to snack for those with a sweet tooth.

  1. Avocado dark chocolate cookies

For all those choco lovers out there, what a bliss to hear about the health benefits of dark chocolate!

We feel a tad better eating it. Its brain boosting properties are just making it even easier for us to indulge. However, indulging shouldn’t mean exceeding our caloric intake for the day (or the week!).

  1. Peanut butter and banana “sushi” rolls

Banana is rich in magnesium and B6 which classify it as a brain food. Studies have shown the mental benefits of nuts, and even though technically, peanut classifies as a legume, its nutritional value is quite similar. Rich in Coenzyme Q10, B group vitamins, vitamin E, minerals such as iron, zinc, potassium and magnesium, antioxidant minerals (selenium, manganese and copper), plus other antioxidant compounds (such as flavonoids and resveratrol), peanut butter is one of those fast-food superfoods.

Peanut Banana sushi rolls could be one of the most fun-looking, grab-and-go snacks.

  1. No-bake- energy bites

Ok, we admit it. Guilty as charged.

We do have a thing for chocolate.  Our last recipe would be a chocolate-y one.

Almost.

These, no-bake energy bites, are so easy and taste like candy, you just can’t believe they are so healthy. Walnuts, almonds, dates and cocoa powder constitute this beauty.
