How to Smooth Out Acne Scars

Acne is a skin condition that results in an excess production of skin oil or sebum, which causes blocked pores. In turn, these blocked pores lead to the white heads, black heads, spots and pimples characterised by the skin affliction. Although acne is most commonly associated with teenage complexions, it can strike at any point in life. Women can also suffer from acne during or following a pregnancy. And, hormones, medication, and emotional stress can all act as triggers.

The good news is that there are umpteen treatments out there designed to banish all manner of blemishes. But what happens when the angry red spots are gone, and the shadowy, uneven-textured scars remain? You need a skin-tervention…

Here are our top tips for smoothing out acne scars:

1. Cucumber

As well as being delicious in sandwiches, cucumbers are also known for their soothing, hydrating properties when used topically. They are packed full of magnesium, vitamin C, and vitamin A – ingredients known to stimulate your skin’s regeneration process. Place some cucumber slices on your scars, lie back and relax. After 30 minutes, remove the cucumber and rinse your face with cold water. Repeat this ritual daily.

2. Honey

Honey is another top pick from Mother Nature’s beauty counter. It is a pure moisturiser and works to soften the appearance of scars and uneven skin tone. Make sure you buy raw honey as this is the best quality. Mix it with some cinnamon and massage all over your scars as a scrub.

3. Vitamin E
