Dry Nose: 5 ways to instantly feel better

The colder month of the year is coming to its end.

Getting through it though, has been a bit of a challenge for those who experience the usual winter sniffles, leaving you with a very common “trademark” symptom, aka the dry nose!

Spending most of your time inside, has only contributed to a  drier, sore nose; the dry environment, that the difference in temperature between the inside and outside of the house creates, is a rather uncomfortable one for your respiratory system, often leading to a dry nose.

Other common causes are:

  • Frequent blowing your nose.
  • Medications, such as antihistamines and decongestants used for common colds or allergies.
  • Atrophic rhinitis, a chronic condition which is characterized by the formation of thick, dry crusts in the nasal cavity.
  • Tobacco, recreational drugs
  • Sjogren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system of the body attacks the mucus-secreting cells of the nose, eyes, and mouth, resulting in decreased mucus secretion and, consequently, dryness

How can you deal with your dry nose?

  1. Humidifier

A humidifier can restore back the natural humidity of the environment and offer healthier surroundings for your nasal passages.

  1. Relieve nasal sores

Constant blowing your nose has left you with blisters inside your nostrils? Or perhaps nasal vestibulitis?

Arm yourself with an anhydrous nasal barrier ointment  (medical device 2803) for the moisturization and relipidation of nasal epidermal barrier that inhibits nasal mucosa dryness, protects & reinforces epidermal barrier of nasal epithelium. If you want the whole family to use it, including infants, opt for one free of pharmaceutical ingredients.

Apply with cotton swabs on the affected area (nose, skin) 1-2 times daily or according to your doctor’s advice. Frequent application is essential for symptoms’ attenuation.

  1. Hydrate your nasal cavity

Try a spray for cleansing and moisturizing the nasal cavity that relieves the cold symptoms, protects nasal epithelium from  dryness and moisturizes the nasal cavity (medical device 2803).

  1. Wet Washcloth or wipes

Applying a warm, wet washcloth over the nose several times a day will add some moisture to your nose.

Alternatively, you can also use baby wipes, which are designed for cleaning sensitive areas without causing over-drying.

And, don’t forget! Always strive to hydrate from within first, meaning drinking lots of water!
