The Ultimate Response to Acne

Although acne is often characterised as an adolescent skin condition, it can continue into adulthood.

Acne can consist of blackheads, whiteheads, inflammation and redness. Adolescent acne is primarily caused by hormonal changes, while adult acne can be caused by a number of factors including stress, air pollution and smoking. Women may develop acne after the age of thirty due to premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy and menopause.

Even though the appearance of acne can be distressing, establishing a calming skincare routine is a great way of reducing its appearance and symptoms.

Cleanse

Using a gentle cleanser will help balance oil levels and reduce the amount of spot-causing bacteria on the skin. Cleanse morning and evening using a gentle cleanser for acne prone skin, such as our Ac-Norm Active Foam Plus. Washing your skin with warm instead of hot water will further reduce skin irritation.

Treat

After cleansing, you can use our Ac-Norm Normalizing Lotion that reduces inflammation, controls sebum, hydrates the skin and provides antiseptic action. Then you can apply your prescribed topical acne medication alone or in combination with any other Ac-Norm product.

Alternative products are the Frezyderm Ac-Norm Medilike Effect Creams, which were created as an alternative to medical treatment.

Hydrate and Protect

Acne produces oily skin, but even oily skins needs the protection of a lightweight moisturiser. Finish your skincare routine by applying our Ac-Norm Aquatic Cream.

This non-oily cream gently hydrates your skin, minimising any irritation or discomfort. It can also be used in place of an after-shave cream.

When treating acne it is important to not overly scrub your skin or to use harsh and abrasive products. We would recommend seeking the advice of your GP before combining your prescribed spot treatment medication with other topical products.
